Our Animals
We have a well diversified group of animals on our farm. All of the animals help ensure we are keeping a well balanced ecosystem. The main animals we have are all listed below, but thee list is always subject to change!

Cows
We keep a small herd of cows to maintain the property and also have a steady supply of meat for ourselves and our customers. We have angus and angus/hereford cross cattle.

Pigs
We love having pigs on the farm. Pigs are amazing at keeping the soil well tilled. They eat many of the little bugs that call the farm home, they drop some amazing nitrogen to keep the soil healthy and best of all, the provide amazing meat.

We choose to have heritage breeds pigs as they do very well being in a pasture raised environment. All of our pigs are raised outside. We have found the best breed of pigs for this are Red Wattle, Duroc, Old Spots and Berskire.

Chickens
We raise chickens for the eggs as well as their meat. Different breeds of chickens are chosen depending on the use. For eggs layers we typically use brown eggs layers such ar Rhode Island Reds and Barred Rocks.

For the meat birds we typically use are Cornish Cross. The Cornish Cross grow quickly (normally 8 weeks) from day old chick to butchering weight. We tend to see weights of about 4-6 pounds processed. We process all of our chickens on the farm.
Sheep

We have a small herd of hair sheep. The sheep are Katahdin Sheep. These sheep are known for their amazing meat and their ease of keeping. Sheep also do a great job with the pastures as they eat vegetation that the cows will not. They are a great cleanup crew behind the cows.

KAYKA
Kayla and "Cookie" the Jersey Steer
We have several animals that are Farm Pets. They are animals that will live their life out here on the farm. These guys are mostly used to teach about livestock. They love getting pet and loved by visitors. Our Farm friends include "Waffles" the Donkey, "Cookie" the Cow, "Deer" the Goat and "Cow" also a goat.
